Don’t think that you’ve really gotten to the core of the assignment with the panels you are showing here. You have put photoshop filters over the images, but are not really infusing the style/ techniques you researched/ studied into the images. The goal of the assignment is to think about the story you are telling (the extension of the first part) and how these examples of different styles and art movements (cubism, expressionism, etc…) could be used to enhance the story within each panel. You haven’t gotten deep enough into playing around with these photos (images) yet. Certain styles may work better with certain panels (parts of the story). For example, collage… You have this interesting rock formation that the kid is moving up. What’s stopping you from cutting the boy out from the photos you took and assembling a rock formation (out of photos of different rocks and mountain faces) to create an image of him scaling a large rock face? The process of collage (of assembling found objects often newspaper, other photos, etc…) might fit well with one of these images. You could use that technique to build up the rock wall and ‘raise the stakes’ in the images while getting that technique (look) into the image.
As the images stand right now, you haven’t gone far enough with them. If you have any questions, please contact me. I was in class last week (even though we didn’t meet as a group) and it would have been a good time to come in and ask questions if you were unclear about what you needed to do for the assignment. Hope we see something new in these images for wednesday. Again, contact me if you have questions.
